Inauguration of the Educational Playground for Early Childhood in the center of Rome in Viale Tiziano!

It’s now official: Rome has a playground Primo Sport 0246, an educational playground designed for sensory-motor development in early childhood, which was inaugurated today, in Viale Tiziano, in front of the Sports Arena.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Rome, Ignatius Marino, the CONI President, Giovanni Malago’, the President of the Paralympic Committee as well as Italian sports councillor of the City of Rome, Luca Pancalli, the Councillor for Environment, Waste and Food Estella Marino and the Vice President of Laboratorio 0246, Andrea Benetton.

“This park is an important sign for our citizens – explains the Mayor of Rome, Ignazio Marino – it promotes a healthy and correct way of life, from early childhood. I want to thank the sensitivity demonstrated by Laboratorio 0246, and all the partners that have supported this initiative, that doesn’t stop only in the construction of the park but also its management and promotion for the next 3 years, with particular attention to all details. We will ensure our support for it to be a successful project and impact for the people”.

THE PLAYGROUND – Primo Sport 0246, which will have free access, will be video-monitored and illuminated with LED technology, extends over an area of approximately 1800 square meters and will have 20 games, arranged to form Pathways that develop the first capabilities of a child, dexterity, mobility, balance and symbolic games: the Pathways have been studied by the staff of University of Verona, coordinated by Ph. Guido Fumagalli and Ph. Patrizia Tortella, in collaboration with CONI first supporter of the project together with Verde Sport, operating company of the Benetton group in the world of sports, from which the idea was born to establish Laboratorio 0246

ACTIVITIES – The playground Primo Sport 0246 of Rome will follow the concept of the playground already built in Treviso, at La Ghirada Sports Center, of the Benetton Group. The agreement with the City of Rome provides that for the next three years Laboratorio 0246, in addition to building the playground Primo Sport 0246, shall provide for it’s maintenance and,  in collaboration with the City of Rome and  CONI, organise free guided tours of the structure twice a week for preschools, to allow children to participate in physical activity,

LABORATORIO 0246 – the design and construction of the playground has been tasked to Laboratorio 0246, a Non-profit Association for Social Promotion, presided by Olympian Valentina Vezzali, who from 2011 is engaged in the promotion of the issues related to early childhood, especially the development of motor skills of a child.

THE PARTNERS OF THE PLAYGROUND PRIMO SPORT 0246 OF ROME – to provide the playground in Rome, and bear the costs of maintenance and organization of free activities, Laboratorio 0246 is sustained by prestigious partners who share and support the idea: Aeroporti di Roma, Autogrill, Autostrade per l’Italia, Deoni, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lamaro Appalti and  SuisseGas are the companies that have enabled the creation of the playground Primo Sport 0246 in Rome.

INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERS OF LABORATORIO 0246 – if in each territory in which a playground will be realized is already finding it’s first supporters, Laboratorio 0246 started its activities with companies of an of high level, who will share over the next 3 years, all of the ideas of the project: together with United Colors of Benetton are, Armani Junior who has decided from the very beginning to associate it’s name to this important initiative that combines sports and social development for early childhood; Selex Elsag, who oversaw the video surveillance system, Enel Cuore Onlus, whose contribution will be directed to help the realization of those games that, within each park, will be accessible to both able bodied and disabled children – Enel Sole has realized the lighting system inside the park of Rome; Fondazione Telecom Italia, the first to support the idea of a playground combining play and sport for preschoolers and whose contribution will be aimed to encourage the participation of schools in playground activities; Legnolandia, who studied the La Ghirada model that will provide all of the games in the playground, Diversey and Sisal, new entries among institutional partners, who support the causes of Laboratorio 0246 for early childhood.
