In the world, one person in three is overweight. A global ‘epidemic’ which has spread in the last 30 years and that no longer only refers to rich countries but also those so-called emerging. To alert the alarm the Overseas Development Institute which, in its recent report also emphasizes the abnormal increase in the consumption of sugars and sweets ( 20 %) between 1961 and 2009.

There are examples which contrast this trend and they come from South Korea, where, thanks to numerous governmental campaigns the consumption of fruit and vegetables has increased in the past 30 years by 300 %.
